Happy Memorial Day everyone. Thanks to all that have or are serving our country to allow us such great freedom. We explained to Harrison (my 4 yr old son) what Memorial Day was all about today. "Today is a day to remember all the soldiers who fought to keep our country free." Harrison's response: "I can't remember all of them, that's too many." Yah, it was funny but at the same time its amazing that there HAS been so many!
Summer is here, hotness is now here. I like it warm, but not hot. But hey, at least it isn't Houston hot! Next weekend is the Elephant Rock bicycle ride event that I did last year and will do this year as well. I was able to complete the metric century (62 miles) last year and was planning to hit the 100 mile century ride this year but I haven't trained NEARLY enough and even the 62 will be too much for me. After my 62 mile ride at the beginning of May I found out that my body isn't ready for it this year-- I experienced IT band friction syndrome during that ride and I don't want that pain again so I'll be hitting the 34 miler instead and I think that will be just fine for now. I am excited to ride the Castle Rock countryside again... what a beautiful area.
Aren't you loving this randomness?? Yah, its nice.
So there's this tree-bush on the side of our house that decided to die. I chopped it all down but now I have to get the "trunk" out and after digging all around it and cutting some roots its not even budging!! How am I gonna get that stupid thing out so I can plant another bush there? Any ideas how to get it out before I lose my mind/patience/sanity and steal a chainsaw and go berserk on it?? Any more shovel-forcing will break the shovel. Here is picture of the oh-so-innocent-looking "thing" that laughs at me and my attempts to remove it.
