I always find it very weird that suicidal patients that I see at work are Code A. (Code A= full resusitation, Code B= partial (specified yes/no to specific actions), Code C= DNR). Wouldn't you think they would want C? Hm. Just one of those head-scratchers. This week has been full of interesting patients such as the alcoholic who crashed his ATV at highway speeds as he was already drunk and returning home from the liquor store, the narcotic dependent man who OD'd on 4 different recreational drugs at the same time, the man who had an emergent CABG, some total joint replacements, the person who came in with severe internal burns due to being prescribed different medications that should never be taken together, and all the many larger patients that expect everyone to cure them while they just lie there in their beds and won't do anything you ask them to do. Just another week at work!

  1. Why oh why does this sound very familiar to me? My best course of action is to take someone with me, OT or aide, who has a similar sense of humor...and simply enjoy the ridiculousness of the situations we see so often!
